Queen or DJ: DJ

Stephen

Stephen Dowling has been DJing since 2012 and in this few short years he has excelled in his career. He joined The George in 2014 shortly after The Dragon Bar had closed down. You can see him play in The George every Monday after Win, Lose or Drag and or when one of the other DJs are skiving off on holidays. He plays pop/chart and gives you the greatest night possible.

Rocky

Rocky has been a DJ on the scene for what (as he says) feels like a thousand years, though he is yet to win any awards (hint hint GALAS!). Rocky is famed for his alternative sound and is a big fan of uploading his own mixes onto his mix cloud account which has a large following.

Rocky is unlike other DJ’s due to his unique sets which include modern remixes of 70’s to 00’s hits. Rocky is well known on the scene with DJ sets in Mother and Sunday Social as well as his set every Wednesday here at the George.

Mo

Born in a land far, far away reared by jungle cats. Mo got her first decks from a zebra whose DJ career failed when he discovered he couldn’t beatmatch, oh and also because her surrogate father ate him. Mo has played in venues such as The George, The Academy, The Kremlin (Belfast)….and anywhere there’s a party. Far from the jungle you say? Not really….when you think about it!

Mo is one of our resident DJ’s and plays at Glitterbomb every Friday from midnight onwards.

DJ Karen

DJ Karen has worked on the DJ circuit for the last 3 decades. No mean feat in an island that has seen musical styles and venues change over the years. She started working in The George in late 1994 and thankfully is still here!

You can now find Karen in The George on Tuesdays and Sundays playing a selection of dance tunes and genres from dance remixes of pop tunes, funky house thru to pumping Electro house. Before you know what’s happening you’re standing in the middle of the dance floor shaking your tush and discovering dance moves you never knew you had. There’s no mistake who is in control of the room!

Over the years she has played a number of Dublin’s top venues and festivals, playing to crowds of over 6,000 people. Karen is one of our resident DJ’s, check her out every Tuesday from 11.30pm and Sundays from 11pm.

Conor Behan

Conor is a presenter, writer, DJ, pop junkie and incessant tweeter.

Conor has put his hand to many things over the years, including writing the music column for GCN Magazine, regularly contributing on radio stations such as RTE 2FM, Today FM, Phantom and Newstalk and DJing in various clubs in Dublin including ALT, Wilde and The George. He’s supported Shakira at the 02 2010, worked with Cher Lloyd at her Childline slot in the 02 in 2011 and has DJed at Oxegen festival, Electric Picnic, Tripod, Spy, Twister Pepper, The Dragon and Set Theatre Kilkenny.

He was one of the cast members of the hit Absolut Dublin Fringe show Singlehood, a documentary piece by Una McKevitt and David Coffey that had a sold-out run in Project Arts Centre during the 2012 festival. He also co-hosted the 2010 IMTV Awards and has interviewed some of music biggest names including Ash, We Are Scientists, Diana Vickers, Adam Lambert, Aiden Grimshaw, The Overtones, Hurts, Cathy Davey, Louis Walsh and Alphabeat. He has also worked on TV hits such as, Take Me Out, Frenemies, Celebrity Salon and Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum. He’s been featured in TV Now, Image Magazine, Stellar, and has probably seen every episode of The Hills ever made. Twice.

Conor is one of our resident DJ’s, and with his alter ego ‘Laura in the box’, happily helps co-host Win, Lose or Drag on Monday nights as well as Saturgays Karaoke, DJing into the early hours after both shows as well as on Thursdays.
